The Film "Land of Smiles" "Das Land des Lachelns" is based on the 1929 Operetta by the same name. A passionate love story exotically set in Vienna and an Asian land. Viennese Countess Lissy (Marta Eggerth) and the Crown Prince of an early 20th century Asian land, Sou Chong (Jan Kiepura) fall passionately in love. Ultimately the cultural differences and expectations made upon the Prince force Lissy to return home to Vienna.
